Cutting-Edge Features
The LU70 system includes new cutting-edge features, such as: One-Touch-Live (LiveU OTL™) mode with automatic adjustment of video resolutions for fast and easy live video transmission at the touch of a button; point to multi-point distribution, whereby a single device can broadcast to multiple, varied destinations concurrently; increased throughput up to 10Mb/sec for even better video quality and an instant Wi-Fi access point, providing wireless connectivity over Wi-Fi for areas with limited network connections.
The LU70 also includes: Fast File Transfer (FTP) for fast upload of pre-recorded material from anywhere into the workflow; IFB (return audio channel from studio), Store & Forward, and local recording on the transmitting unit or on externally attached storage device.
2nd Generation Proprietary Internal & External Antennas
LiveU's second-generation proprietary internal antennas support a larger number of frequencies, ensuring enhanced signal performance with long-range reception and increased uplink capability. The new external antenna array provides additional resiliency for extreme scenarios. With its optional roof-mounted antenna array, LiveU’s LU70 facilitates a trailblazing new mobile newsgathering (MNG) vehicle, offering wider opportunities for breaking news and events coverage, with faster set-up time and lower overheads than traditional satellite trucks.
Full HD
The LU70 uplink solution supports resolutions ranging from CIF (360x240 pixels, Standard Definition) and up to 1080i High Definition. The video is encoded using the high efficiency H.264 AVC high profile and then transmitted to the studio. The LU70 comes with either SDI or HDMI and analog video input interfaces together with DV IEEE 1394 Firewire. The LU1000 software on the studio side supports multiple simultaneous SDI or Analog outputs to a TV switcher, as well as a variety of web encoders.
International Roaming
The LU70 offers dual SIM cards per modem as an option. This allows users to switch between working with a local SIM set in their own home country to a roaming set when travelling. The roaming set may be the recommended LiveU roaming offering or the users own roaming set. In CDMA markets, both CDMA and GSM are supported.
Anton Bauer, IDX & Sony V-Mount Support
The LU70 series is fully compatible with Anton Bauer, IDX and Sony V-Mount batteries. It supports either single or dual hot-swappable batteries as an integral, cable-free, part of the backpack. The cellular uplink unit can also operate with a direct DC power supply, comes equipped with a built-in ion-lithium battery, and supports additional hot-swappable batteries types. With the variety of power and hot-swapping options available, the LU70 can operate for very long hours without any down-time, supporting even the longest imaginable live events.
Pre-Recorded Upload
Even if you don't require a live feed from the field in every instance, the LU70 is ideal for preparing and uploading footage on the fly. Edit a take and add graphics in the field on your laptop and then uplink the finished file via FTP utilizing the multiple modems of the LiveU system. Also, you can easily upload large amounts or raw footage for studio editors to process.
Simple, Intuitive Control from the Field or Remotely
The LU70 portable uplink system can be easily and fully controlled by a single operator in the field using an intuitive touch-screen interface, and an external touch-screen. Additionally, the unit can be controlled remotely from any computer or using a variety of mobile devices such as iPhone, iTouch, Android, and iPad. The LiveU system also analyzes the data conditions in the field and automatically recommends the most suitable video settings.
Meeting Leading Broadcast Industry Standards
LiveU products support broadcast-quality sub-second latency transmission, and are compatible with broadcast industry standards such as SDI and analog inputs and outputs, return IFB channels, and more.
Field Production Flexibility
In addition to direct camera inputs, the LU70 can also support inputs from a variety of field editing and switching devices, and therefore support multi-camera productions and real-time field editing.
Platform Flexibility
LiveU's transmission products can be used for either TV or web/mobile transmission, and are compatible with virtually any CDN or live video platform. For more information about LiveU's cellular-based uplink architecture, please visit our Technology page.
